Independent testing for a large customer confirmed a 25% to 35% power density improvement bringing HPEV one step closer to integrating its cooling technology into the $100 billion motor/generator market.
(Tampa , FL: December 17, 2013) HPEV, Inc. (OTCQB:WARM), an innovator in energy efficiency and heat removal technologies, announced today that Mohler Technology, Inc. (“MTI”) of Boonville, Indiana, an industry-leading motor testing, manufacturing and repair facility, completed tests for a generator for a yet to be named customer with HPEV technology built inside. The yet to be named customer has declined to be announced publically due to competitive reasons. The goal of the test was to determine the power density improvement achieved by the integration of the HPEV technology in addition to ensuring that the generator meets industry certification standards so that commercialization in the motor/generator industry can begin.
“To put this in the simplest terms, this generator puts out significantly more power and requires less expensive materials to manufacture. This is truly a breakthrough in an industry that has seen little change since the 1950’s,” commented Theodore Banzhaf, HPEV’s President. “We are very excited about the impact that our technology is having in the motor/generator and pump industries and are looking to affect the rest of the rotating equipment universe including brakes/calipers, bearings and other verticals with similar improvements,” continued Banzhaf.
The primary industry certification standards are established and maintained by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The generator met expectations on all fronts and achieved certification.
“We are extremely pleased with the results of the testing. The machine performed exactly as expected and further demonstrates the ‘game changing’ impact of our technology on the motor and generator world,” commented Timothy Hassett, HPEV’s CEO and co-founder.
The generator tested was a 650kVA alternator (generator). The alternator was driven at full load to test the limits of the generator and the improved cooling ability of the HPEV technology. The results were an improvement in power density between 25% to 35% (TEWAC vs. TEAAC) and all industry certification standards were met.
HPEV’s technology dramatically increases the efficiency of cooling the generator and that allows it to be driven to higher output levels. Further, because of the increase in power density, a smaller generator can now perform the same power output as before. This means higher margins for the manufacturer, lower costs and efficiency improvements that are dramatic for the end user market. HPEV’s revolutionary technology is also significant to the end user because it requires near zero maintenance which further reduces operating costs. This combination should create great attention in the $100+ billion motor and generator industry.
HPEV management anticipates that OEM’s will begin to manufacture motors and generator with “HPEV inside” in the first half of 2014, and beyond.
